The workshop will be facilitated by Eirini (Renée) Gkatsi, Co-Founder of the Digital Democracy Foundation (DDF).

The Digital Democracy Foundation (DDF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening democratic participation in the digital age. Focusing on political education, human rights and the accessible communication of EU digital policies, DDF develops initiatives, educational tools and participatory methodologies that empower citizens and communities. Its work addresses misinformation, supports democratic resilience and promotes inclusive processes of dialogue and co-creation across digital and civic environments.

The Memory Commons brings digital democracy into conversation with public history.

Through democratic micro-experiments, digital-divide simulations and collaborative exercises focused on visibility and representation, participants will examine how personal memories enter collective narratives and how digital environments influence whose histories are seen, heard and remembered.

The workshop will invite participants to consider questions of access, power, representation and participation in digital memory projects and to explore practical principles for creating more inclusive forms of engagement, particularly when working with vulnerable, marginalised or underrepresented voices.

No specialist background is required. The workshop is open to anyone interested in public history, digital public history, memory, democracy, digital participation, cultural heritage, education and civic engagement.
